Make a free sunburst chart with groups on the inner ring and items on the outer ring. Edit the values in your browser, then export or embed the chart.
Follow a visit back to its source
The sample chart groups website visits by channel. Search occupies the inner ring, with Google and Bing beside each other in the outer ring. Open Search to see its sources across the whole circle.
How to make a sunburst chart
- Enter Group, Item and Value columns, or paste a range from a spreadsheet.
- Choose Sunburst in the shape picker. Click an inner ring to open its group; choose All to return.
- Download a PNG or SVG for a slide or document, copy the embed code for a web page, or copy a link that reopens the chart with your data.
Enter one item per row
Group identifies the channel, Item names its source, and Value counts visits. Group totals come from the items:
| Group | Item | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Search | 4200 | |
| Search | Bing | 800 |
| Weekly digest | 1800 |
Paste spreadsheet cells into the grid or import a CSV file. Item and Value columns work too: they become one group. Type No data for a missing value.
Sunburst, donut or treemap
A donut shows one level of parts. A sunburst adds an inner ring for groups, with their items outside it. A treemap shows the same hierarchy in nested rectangles and makes size comparisons easier. The shape picker switches between Treemap and Sunburst using the cells already in the grid.
When not to use a sunburst
Choose a treemap or bar graph when close values need precise comparison. This maker supports two levels, up to 6 groups and 36 items. It cannot draw deeper trees. Values must be positive and use one unit; keep signed values in a table.
Can I make a sunburst chart without signing up?
Yes. Edit and export the chart in your browser without an account. Free exports carry the Meiku Charts mark; Pro removes it. Your data stays in this browser.
Does switching to Treemap change my data?
No. The shape picker changes the view while keeping every row and value. Shared editing links and file drafts remember the selected shape; they always contain the whole hierarchy.
Why are some item names absent?
A label appears only when it fits inside its sector. Hover or tap an outer arc to read its value. Arrow keys also reach small and missing items. A second click or Enter on a pinned item opens its group.
Can I add another ring?
This maker supports two levels: groups and their items. A third level is not supported. Combine the extra level in your source data before importing it.
