How to turn on Pro

Get your Pro key from Polar, activate it in your account, then use Pro on your websites and in your tools. Keep your Pro key private. Only the site key belongs in your page code.

1 · Get your Pro key

Polar sends your purchase confirmation by email. Open the Polar customer portal using the email address entered at checkout, then copy your Pro key. If you have not bought Pro, get Pro for $19/month or $190/year.

Your Pro key is issued automatically. To use Pro in the makers and cloud AI connector, sign in with Google and activate the key in your account. This is a one-time setup for that Google account. Website addresses are optional if you only need clean exports and the AI connector. No manual approval from us is required.

Enter the Pro key only in your account or your local MCP settings. Never put it in page code. We do not store it on our servers or in your browser.

2 · Activate it in your account

  1. Open your account and sign in with Google.
  2. In “Meiku Charts Pro”, paste the key into “Pro key”.
  3. Add up to 3 websites in “Website 1–3”. You can leave these empty if you only need exports and the AI connector.
  4. Select “Activate Pro”.

“Pro is active” shows your site key and websites. This browser gets clean exports in the makers, and your AI connector gets Pro limits.

A domain like example.com also covers blog.example.com. Use your full site address on shared hosting, such as yourname.github.io. Public suffixes such as github.io and co.uk, cloud storage, CDN and tunnel hosts (including *.amazonaws.com, *.r2.dev and ngrok), IP addresses and local names are not accepted.

You can link up to 2 Google accounts to one Pro key. Before linking a third, use “Unlink this Google account…” on one of the existing accounts. After 10 incorrect keys in an hour from one network, key attempts pause for an hour.

3 · Remove the credit from your embeds

Copy “Site key” from your account. It starts with mk_ followed by 24 characters. Add it as the license attribute on every <live-chart> on your registered websites. Replace mk_… below with your full site key; keep the hosted script tag on the page.

<live-chart license="mk_…">
  <script type="application/json">
    {"type":"column","data":{"labels":["Q1","Q2"],
      "series":[{"values":[12,19]}]}}
  </script>
</live-chart>

Embed code copied from the makers in a browser with Pro enabled already includes the site key. The site key is public: it only removes the credit on your registered websites and grants no other Pro access.

If your site uses a strict Content Security Policy (CSP), allow connect-src https://meikucharts.com. The embed checks its key once a day in the background, without flashing the credit on a paying site.

During an outage or blocked connection, a visitor with a previous successful check keeps the credit-free chart for up to 7 days after that check in their browser. A new visitor sees the credit until verification succeeds.

For your own credit line, open “Your own credit line (optional)” when activating Pro, or “Change websites or credit” afterwards. “Credit text” allows up to 60 characters, without < or >. “Credit link” must use HTTPS and allows up to 200 characters. Leave both fields empty for no credit; otherwise your own credit line replaces “Made with Meiku Charts”.

Free embeds show the “Made with Meiku Charts” credit. Attempts to hide it restore the credit and add a meikucharts.com mark inside the chart.

4 · Clean PNG and SVG exports

In each browser you use, open your account, enter your Pro key and select “Use Pro in this browser”. Clean exports are PNG and SVG files without the meikucharts.com mark. Your activation browser already has access.

The browser renews access once a day. After 7 days without use, or if your subscription has ended, the maker asks for your Pro key again. On a shared computer, select “Remove Pro from this browser” when you finish.

Free exports append · meikucharts.com to the source line when both fit. Without a source, or when the source and mark do not fit together, the mark appears in a 20 px strip at the bottom, inside your chosen image size. A long source or an image narrower than about 190 px can need this strip. Tables have no PNG or SVG export in the makers: use the embed, editing link or JSON.

5 · AI connector (cloud MCP)

Connect your AI client to https://meikucharts.com/mcp. Sign in to the AI connector with this same Google account: the one linked to your Pro key. See MCP setup and tools for connection steps.

Each calendar month includes 10 visualizations on Free, 500 on Pro or 5,000 on Team. The allowance resets on the 1st of the month (UTC), with a warning at 80%.

A successful create_chart, render_chart or prepare_visualization with a ready result uses one visualization. Only successful results count. suggest_chart and list_themes do not use the allowance.

Cloud renders support up to 1,000 points on Free or 5,000 on Pro. Free SVG images include the meikucharts.com mark.

6 · Local MCP

With Pro active, download meiku-charts-mcp.zip from your account. You need Node.js 20 or later. Extract the archive and find the meiku-charts-mcp/ folder containing meiku-mcp.mjs. Windows “Extract All” may add an extra folder with the same name. Keep node_modules and page beside meiku-mcp.mjs.

Add this configuration to your MCP client. Replace the file path and Pro key with your own values. Claude Desktop, Cursor and Windsurf use this JSON shape; VS Code and Codex use their own settings files.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "meiku-charts": {
      "command": "node",
      "args": ["/path/to/meiku-charts-mcp/meiku-mcp.mjs"],
      "env": {
        "MEIKU_LICENSE_KEY": "<your Pro key from the Polar customer portal>"
      }
    }
  }
}

On Windows, write the file path with forward slashes, for example C:/Users/you/meiku-charts-mcp/meiku-mcp.mjs. Restart your MCP client after saving the settings. The server reads MEIKU_LICENSE_KEY at start, so restart the client whenever you change the key.

The local MCP has six tools: prepare_visualization, create_chart, suggest_chart, list_themes, render_chart and render_card. PNG images of charts and tables, and infographic cards, use your installed Chrome or Edge. For another Chromium-based browser, add MEIKU_BROWSER_PATH with its executable path to env. SVG works without a browser; no separate browser is downloaded.

The license check runs on the first use after each start, then once a day. After a successful check, it works offline for up to 7 days. Your Pro key stays in your MCP client’s settings. Embed code from the local MCP includes your site key; it removes the credit only on your registered websites.

One Pro key covers up to 3 computers (Team: 20). “Computers using the local MCP: N of 3” in your account shows how many places you’ve used.

If you renew a lapsed subscription, the local MCP picks it up within an hour. Restarting the client does not speed this up.

7 · Change websites, move to a new computer, lose a key

To edit your sites or your own credit line, open “Change websites or credit” in your account, then select “Save websites and credit”. You can change the website list no more than 5 times in 30 days.

To make room for a new computer, remove MEIKU_LICENSE_KEY from the MCP settings on computers you no longer use, then select “Release all computers…” in your account. This frees all 3 Pro places. Computers that still have the key in their settings can activate again. For a new browser, use “Use Pro in this browser”.

If you lose your Pro key, open the Polar customer portal using your checkout email address and copy the key from your purchase. If you rotate it in Polar, enter the new Pro key in your account, update MEIKU_LICENSE_KEY on every computer and restart each MCP client. Your license and site key stay the same. Until you replace the old key, tools may say it “wasn’t accepted” or your subscription “isn’t active”.

If you buy again after your subscription ends, Polar sends a new Pro key. Enter it in your account first, using the same Google account linked before, then in the local MCP. Buy using the same Polar customer account. This keeps your site key and existing embed code if no more than 90 days have passed since the previous subscription ended, while the license record is retained.

Putting the new key in the local MCP first starts a separate license with a new site key, leaving your websites on the old key. After activating in your account, put the new key in MEIKU_LICENSE_KEY and restart the client.

8 · Cancel your subscription

To stop future renewals, cancel in the Polar customer portal using your checkout email address. Pro access lasts until the end of your paid period. After that, the AI connector returns to Free limits and chart exports carry the mark. Embeds can return to Free with the credit within a few days after the period ends.

Deleting your Meiku Charts account does not cancel your Polar subscription. If you return later, follow the repeat-purchase steps above.

9 · Help

Email support@meikucharts.com if you need help finding your purchase or activating Pro. Keep your Pro key out of your message.
